Painting and collage with Zara McQueen

We are delighted to announce the reinstatement of the Guggleton Painters under the auspices of one of their original number, Zara. Since joining the group 10  years ago she has gone on to great success and is now ready to help the next generation of Guggleton Painters to find their way!

Her classes will take place on a Wednesday afternoon and will be open to all abilities and media. The class is all about exploration and coming together to learn and experience in a relaxed and supportive space.

Each session lasts for two and a half hours and costs £15. For more information about when the classes will be starting, booking and times, please either use the handy contact form below or call the gallery on 01963 363456 between 11 and 3pm, Tuesday to Sunday.

Zara is a self taught artist living and working from her studio in Shaftesbury. She has been painting the landscape around her since moving to North Dorset from East London in 1995. “Drawing and painting is part of who I am. It is how I respond to my world. I am driven by mood and intuition”.

“I always begin outside. In that sense I am a landscape painter. Seasonal changes catch my attention and I can rarely resist the changing colours and textures of the natural year. I sketch and paint in watercolour, charcoal or oil then return to the studio where I make larger mixed media pieces guided by memory and feeling. Work gets cut down, torn up, collaged and reformed. Fragments of self portraits often lay hidden in fields, branches or buildings”.

In 2009 Zara  began painting with the Guggleton painters here at the farm.
Since then she has exhibited in London and shows her work frequently across South West.
