For the last 16 years the Guggleton’s founder, Isabel De Pelet, has, alongside the Blackmore Vale Arts Society, run a Young Artist of the Year Exhibition.
This year will be no different, except that of course it will, because it has to be. Art in a time of COVID means that the submission and selection process will be adapted to suit the current times and restrictions; AND ALSO THAT THE EXHIBITION OF SELECTED WORKS AND PRIZE GIVING WILL TAKE PLACE IN A DIFFERENT YEAR ENTIRELY…..
The show, which was to run from the 27th Of November until the 19th of December this year, will instead now hang in the Milking Parlour Gallery from the 9th of January until the 6th of February 2021.
Selected by a panel of judges working alongside our Artistic Director, Deanne Tremlett. Selection will be made, initially from online submissions, followed by a physical review, and open with a socially distanced reception and conversation.
Submissions are invited from artists working in any medium who are under the age of 35 as of the start date of the show. Entry costs £20 and you may submit up to 6 images for this price.
This year there are two separate prizes up for the winning, firstly, the cash prizes from the Blackmore Vale Arts Society for 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed works in the show and, secondly, the new YaY! Guggleton Farm Arts prize of a month long solo show in the Milking Parlour Gallery, with critical and curatorial input and publicity.
