One Day Life Painting pose with James Meiklejohn 4th December 10-4

This course is aimed at those wishing to paint the figure in oil paint primarily but other mediums are possible too.
It is a structured day that will take students through the traditional monochrome underpainting approach to painting the figure or portrait
1 Working out a composition, all or part of the figure, drawing this out to transfer to canvas or board
2 painting the figure in tones of one neutral colour; the underpainting, understanding the general pitch and range of the tones in the painting
3 colour analysis, understanding range of colours in the composition; how strong colours around the model may affect skin colour
4 Introducing colour into the underpainting, going for the finished painting
5 finishing touches, intuitive ideas to finish painting
