Ceramics and Sculpture

Ruth Kirkham will be running two six week courses, concurrently on either a Thursday or a Saturday, where you will learn everything you need to begin or brush up your ceramics practice.

Ruth started at Guggleton as a student of our previous tutor, David Burns, and early on showed her ability to teach and help others. So, as is our mission at the Gugg, we invited her to step into David’s shoes when he relocated to the Lake District, our own home grown talent!

She has a great attitude towards practice based learning, is relaxed, highly organised, and is able to teach the basics of hand building and throwing techniques to adults wishing to have a go! She has extensive interests in other crafts, nature and animals.

Ruth is an accessible, experienced and knowledgable tutor who has been working on her own practices for many years and is now ready to help you start yours! No previous experience is necessary, just a willingness to get your hands dirty [very dirty]…

The classes run from 10.00am to 1.00pm and the cost is £120 plus clay at cost.

Sculpture classes

Our stone carving tutor, Sasha Constable, will begin her classes as soon as construction of our new Sculpture Yard is complete. Creativity runs in her blood and she is also an accomplished printmaker and curator. She will be teaching both relief and stone carving along with all the techniques required to conceptualise and then realise your work.

To reserve a place in either of these classes  call the gallery on 01963 363456 or email us here.
