This week @ #thegugg we are enjoying the reopening of the #wesca mixed show in the #milkingparlourgallery (open from 11-3 daily) and looking forward to our #christmasjumperday on Friday from 3.30-5.30 with activities and Christmas jumper photo opps, with the wonderful Cara Wildeman, plus pressies from Santa! All in aid of #savethechildern Pop along in your Crimbo sweater, grab a mince pie and take a swipe at our Christmas pud piñata…
This fabulous, mixed media, show of the work of 19 WESCA members opened to a successful and socially distanced talk on the 30th of October, and then had to close a week later for obvious reasons…

All go @thegugg this week! We are, in line with guidance from the #ukmensshedsassociation #ukmenssheds OPENING THE REPAIR SHOP SHED for business this Saturday at 2pm! We will have to postpone the tea party until July but in the meantime we need people with time and tools! The shed team will be on site between 2 and 4 on Saturday (13th) to answer questions and help those who wish to become involved. PLEASE POP DOWN. We will ensure that current safeguarding measures are observed. All donations of tools, shelves etc gratefully received…..thank you to Stalbridge Builders and The Vintage Tool Shop for their generous support!
Hello from Guggleton, here’s what we have for you this month and a couple of dates for your diaries in the near future.
In the Milking Parlour, starting with a Private View this Friday [7TH] 6-8pm, we have ‘Alternative Views’ – a collection of paintings and collages from the studios of ZARA McQUEEN and SALLY RIDOUT. Two women with sometimes subtle but always beautiful eyes on the world around us, here, close by. The show continues until the 28TH and is open Tuesday to Saturday 11-3.
In the Craft Gallery ‘As The Crow Flies’ we continue to have a varied selection of paintings, ceramics, jewellery, woodwork, metalwork, glass, fabric and prints from artists and makers living within a ten mile radius. In addition this month we also have some stunning new bowls from Gringlass, new felt work from Sue Burns, Dominoes and a Walnut stool from the workshop of Ian Thomson and a new selection of paintings from Liz McGaw….
Our CERAMICS WORKSHOPS are in full swing [or should that be throw?], on Thursdays and Saturdays from 10 until 1, with the ever entertaining David Burns. £20 a session, OIL PAINTING CLASSES continue on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays with Carolyn Corlett and Alison Underwood’s ART FOR RELAXATION is back on Mondays, call the gallery or click on the course name to book….

Finally, our ‘He Said She Shed’ is now up and we are fully paid up members of the UK Association of Men’s Sheds www.menssheds.org.uk
The shed will function as a Repair Shop, Upcycling Centre, Woodwork shop, Project space and giant tea and biscuit tin…..So If you, or anyone you know, would benefit from using this wonderful new community resource then please get in touch; we are looking for a small committee to run the shed and keep the biscuits fresh…..

Final judging for the GO FIGURE Summer Open overran until today. Unwrapping everything felt like Christmas came early in Stalbridge yesterday. Artists whose work is through to the exhibit will be emailed over the next couple of days, but in the meantime here is a sneaky peak of the upstairs gallery where final selection has taken place….
